Carpet Care 101
The flooring in your home is one of the more significant purchases that you will make as a homeowner. Though hard surface flooring like laminates are widely used in housing, carpets are still a main flooring material in most Canadian homes.
Carpeted flooring offers homeowners a number of benefits:
- Carpet increases the R-value (insulation)
of the room where it's installed. - Carpet is an excellent sound dampener for
an enter tainment room. - Carpet helps to maintain air quality of the
space by acting as a filter.
When it comes to caring for carpets, the typical approach is to clean the area when it appears visibly soiled. For newly installed flooring, if you wait until the carpet looks like it needs to be cleaned, you've probably exceeded the manufacturer's warranty.
Regardless if you ever exercise the warranty of newly installed flooring, you should consider professional carpet cleaning as par t of your home's annual upkeep and maintenance. It's really no different than changing the oil on your car – you wouldn't wait until the oil is thick full of dir t before taking it in to the ser vice station, would you?
