back to basics
Here are two basic principles to a healthier life.
Eating nutritiously is the most valuable thing you can do to improve your health; it increases your energy and raises your feeling of well-being.
Simple strategies for eating healthier:
- Check nutrition facts on food labels. Choose foods lower in saturated and trans fats, sugar and sodium.
- Eat a variety of colourful, fresh vegetables.
- Try eating trout or salmon twice a week; fish is a great substitute to red meat.
Staying physical significantly impacts the quality of your health by reducing stress levels and improving sleep.
Everyday activities for improving health:
- Light - 60 minutes a day of easy walking, gardening, stretching or yoga.
- Moderate - 30 – 60 minutes a day of brisk walking, bike riding, swimming or dancing.
- Vigorous – 20 – 30 minutes a day of jogging, hiking, soccer or weight lifting.
