lake or to the cottage, or camping with
family and having backyard BBQs with
friends.

This issue of balance we've assembled
a couple of recipes suitable for
summer and some tips for planning
a memorable vacation. We hope
you're enjoying the summer.

Classic Grilled Corn

the corn right in the husk
What you'll need:

  • Kosher salt
  • Herb Butter (recipe below)
Directions:

  • Prepare the corn on the cob:
  • Pull the husks down to the base.
  • Remove the silk from each ear
  • Fold husks back into place
  • Place the ears of corn in a large bowl of cold water
salted with 1 tablespoon of salt - 10 minutes.
  • Remove corn and shake off excess water.
  • Place the corn on the grill & close the grill for 15 to
    20 minutes
  • Turn every 5 minutes, or until kernels are tender
    when pierced with a knife.
  • Remove the husks spread on the herb butter and ...
    bon appetite!
  • Eat it right off the cob, or cut the kernels off first.

Herb Butter
This is a delicious way to add some more flavour to
your butter.

    smooth.
  • The grill is such a fantastic way to prepare food
during the summer and a great way to get
    together with friends and family.

A Summer Vacation to
Remember

Summer is in full swing! The days are longer and the weather is warmer. For many of us the summer is when we make plans to for camping trips, to visit exciting places and to spend time with friends and family.

A summer vacation somewhere is an exciting idea, but it can be a daunting endeavor to plan for. It's ironic in a funny way that planning for the perfect vacation can be stressful when the whole point of a vacation is to relax and have fun!

To that end we have assembled some tips that will make the planning part a breeze. That way, you can focus on enjoying your time away, no matter where your destination may be. In the famous words of Dr. Suess, "Oh the places you'll go."

  1. Organization is key to relieving any stress to planning your vacation. For most of us, being organized is a path to empowerment.
  2. Be prepared for possible situations you might encounter, and items you may need. Scrambling the day before your vacation is a great way to add some stress to your experience.
  3. At the same time that you are organizing and preparing, remember that life isn't perfect, so don't sweat the small stuff. Sometimes little bumps in the road end up bringing the most joy to the experience!
  4. Be present during the process of planning your vacation. Spend no time worrying about the 'perfect' vacations and try to be fully present.
  5. Be open to the idea that while on your vacation you're going to meet new people, and experience different places and ways of living life.
  6. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, be thankful for your time away. Being grateful can be one of the most powerful ways to feel peaceful about your journey.

All of us at the Capital Direct family wish you and your family an amazing summer and a vacation that you will always remember.
