To Grill or Not to Grill
The griller’s domain is outdoors and the season in now! No matter what size of outdoor entertainment area you have, there are great solutions available for the grilling enthusiast. Here are some common types of BBQ that you’ll be familiar with: gas, charcoal, and electric.
Gas BBQ This is the unit most people consider the “backyard-BBQ”. Cooking on it will generate about the same amount of heat as using a gas oven, so it does require a bit of space - typically about 15 square feet. A gas BBQ can work very well on balconies and patios, but be sure to check with your strata.
Charcoal BBQ These units are associated with the flavour that they add during the grilling process. The juices from the grilling food drips onto the coals and the smoke creates a deep and distinctive taste that cannot be replicated by a gas grill. You should have ample outdoor space to operate a charcoal BBQ.
Electric BBQ If you don’t have access to the space to operate a gas or charcoal BBQ, then this is an option that allows you to enjoy the experience of grilling outdoors. This is a great solution where you have to consider fire regulations, local laws and building regulations.
When selecting a BBQ, it’s important to consider the space you have for grilling. The space needs to be safe for the heat that is being generated and you need to have proper air circulation.
