May Gardening
for Any Space

Whether you've got a big backyard or just a sunny balcony, May is a great time to bring a little greenery into your life. Gardening doesn't have to be a big commitment—just a few well-placed plants can make your space feel more inviting and even increase your home's curb appeal.

If you have limited space, container gardening is an easy and affordable way to get started. Herbs like basil, mint, and chives grow well in small pots and are great to have on hand for summer meals. Tomatoes, strawberries, and even some salad greens also thrive in containers with enough sunlight and water.

For those with yards, consider planting native or drought-resistant species—they tend to be lower maintenance and more eco-friendly. Mulching your garden beds can help retain moisture and cut down on weeding time, too.

No matter the space, gardening has real benefits. Studies show that spending time around plants can boost mood and lower stress levels. It’s a simple way to enjoy your home even more—and get a little fresh air while you’re at it.

So whether you’re potting a single plant or planning out a flower bed, May is a perfect time to dig in

Forget the Flowers—Celebrate Mom in Bold New Ways

Mother’s Day can be more meaningful when you skip the clichés and do something unexpected.
Here are a few creative ways to show your love—no expensive gifts required:

A “No Chores” day pass
Create a DIY voucher that gives her a full day off from life’s usual demands—no cooking, cleaning, scheduling, or errands. It’s simple, free, and incredibly appreciated.

An audio time capsule
Ask loved ones to record short voice messages sharing a memory, a thank-you, or something they’ve learned from her. Compile it into a short playlist or voice memo—intimate, unique, and lasting.

A future date, booked today
Instead of scrambling to celebrate on May 11, plan something to look forward to: a class together, a garden tour, or a picnic in June. Sometimes the best gift is having something on the calendar that says, “I want to spend time with you.”

A "Thank You" scrapbook
Create a scrapbook filled with memories, photos, and little notes that reflect the things you appreciate most about mom. Bonus points if the kids or other family members contribute their own drawings or messages!
