Spring Check List
The time is here to start preparing our gardens and yards for the coming season. This is also the perfect time to do a house health check-up.
This is also the month that many of us will see early signs of spring. When the snow clears, it's time to work in the garden. If you do this before the first signs of life reveal themselves, your planting will benefit greatly.
The winter can cause problems around the house, and dealing with areas of concern immediately can be much more cost effective than leaving them until they become a major problem.
One concern for the health of your home is water damage. It doesn’t take much water to cause damage and it’s much better to fix it before it becomes a serious problem. During the period between winter and spring, there are periods of thawing and freezing that can lead to issues with you home.
Here are a few areas around your home that you should check on.
Look for water stains or standing water in the following areas:
- exterior door jambs and windows.
- floors around the water heater and the water tanks.
- cabinets below sinks in the kitchen, bathrooms and laundry rooms.
- attic for signs of water stains.
- basement for damage to concrete.
Your home can be one of the biggest investments you make. Taking a few minutes to look around your home for signs of water damage is a smart move.
